This new solo exhibition, of Tom Shanks’ work reflects his inherent passion for painting. He continues to demonstrate his endearing personal response to the dramatic panoramas and moods of the mountains, glens and lochs which he loves so much.
Showing no signs of slowing down, Tom still challenges himself as an artist, creating new works in oil and watercolours; powerful rugged scenes of Glencoe, Arran, Skye, Ardnamurchan, Iona and other west of Scotland places, with the ever changing light and often dramatic moods. We have also included a selection of earlier paintings and drawings which demonstrates his superb expertise and draughtsmanship, and a strong sense of pattern, reflecting his earlier career as a designer with Templeton’s Carpet Company and the prestigious Edinburgh weavers, Dovecot Studios.
