Japanese artist Haruhiko Kawaguchi (known professionally as Photographer Haal ) asks men and women from all walks of life to be shrink-wrapped into an intimate embrace for his “Flesh Love” (also his “Flesh love Returns and his “Flesh Love All”) series. The subjects, some of whom were completely naked while being shrink-wrapped together, are whole families, partners, couples, ex-couples or have never met each other before.
Through his photography, Photographer Haal attempts to show the imperishable nature of love by packaging the couples like goods on a supermarket shelf. The fetal positions are reminiscent of just that, fetuses or of packaged toys. The results, while a bit bewildering, offer a fresh, yet understandable, view on relationships and families.
