Princes Square, Glasgow: Alexander Millar

Princes Square, Glasgow: Alexander Millar

Scottish artist Alexander Millar, famous for his depictions of blue-collar workers, or “gadgies,” in post-industrial landscapes, is showing a new collection alongside retrospective work in Unit 40, Level 1 of Glasgow’s Princes Square. In the “Fairway to Heaven” collection of drawings and limited edition prints, his characters embrace more leisurely pursuits, with titles such as ‘Two Under Par’ and ‘Tee for Three’ depicting situations which will be familiar to golfers. Millar has also opened a permanent gallery, his first, on New York’s City Fifth Avenue, displaying limited edition prints of the six most sought-after paintings from his “Everyday Heroes NYC” series inspired by the city’s firefighters.
