Renowned for her pioneering ‘felt paintings,’ Borders based artist and gallery owner Moy Mackay has launched her third book, ‘The Art of Moy MacKay,’ (pub. Search Press), which lavishly illustrates the very distinct art form that she has made wholly her own. Combining her love of textiles and colour and drawing inspiration from her surroundings in the beautiful Tweed Valley, Moy uses Merino wool fibres in the same way a painter uses brushstrokes, each vibrant piece achieving a depth of warmth and texture that paint cannot. In her hands, felting becomes art. Moy recently returned from a sell-out tutoring tour of Canada. Currently running at her Peebles gallery is the Mid-Winter Exhibition, a selection of fine art, jewellery, ceramic and glass by regular artists and new talent.
