Educational background? Professional affiliates or awards?
I won the art prize while studying Higher Art at school, but decided against going to art college. Coming from a working-class background, there was no one there to tell me how I could make a living from art. I was the first in my family to go to university – eventually studying sociology at Edinburgh University. My artistic method has been developed through trial and error, occasional classes and the mentorship of Aine Divine and David Graham.
