Stirling Art has new vibrant and vivacious paintings by Los Angeles-born and now Colchester-based Halima Washington Dixon, who approaches each piece in the spirit of the moment, building layer upon layer and finding a perfect balance between form, content, tradition and abstraction. In uenced by the Post-Impressionists, her work has an emphasis on light, colour and texture. Inspired by her immediate surroundings, she finds that painting familiar subjects makes it easier to ‘loosen up’. Ultimately, her process is less about rendering and more about expressing life.
