TIPPECANOE GALLERY DUNBAR
Dennis the Menace © DC Thomson & Co. Ltd.
Tippecanoe Gallery (Dunbar) and Tippecanoe (North Berwick, East Lothian and Portree, Isle of Skye) are galleries and gift shops by the sea, with a distinct style of their own.
New stock is still arriving for Spring, from gifts, pottery, lighting and mirrors to furniture, prints and pictures. Recently arrivals include cards, posters and limited edition prints by Jack Vettriano.
This year is the 75th anniversary of Britain’s longest running comic, The Dandy, and Tippecanoe has added to the selection of hand-printed screenprints of old comic heroes and heroines such as Dennis the Menace, Gnasher, Desperate Dan and Oor Wullie.
Screenprinter John Patrick Reynolds is the first artist to have had permission from DC Thomson to make screenprints using its unrivalled archive of the comic characters. Others prints are of ‘boys’ own’ adventure heroes from comics such as The Victor, Commando and other forgotten gems.
