FLAUBERT GALLERY
Specialising in original paintings from both established, Scottish-based artists and the work of talented emerging artists, Flaubert Gallery in Stockbridge always has a wide range of artworks on display.
Works of rare beauty reflect the extraordinary energy and variety of practices among an enviable portfolio of artists. The exhibition space combines and merges the figurative and the abstract as well as the distinctly surreal.
UNTIL MARCH 31
Mid-Winter Exhibition
Steven Hendry, Red Hat, oil on canvas
Flaubert is dedicating the next couple of months to exploring the new work of selected artists in more depth. Each artist will have a two-week ‘mini-solo’ show of their new paintings. Work by Stephen Hendry, Claudia Massie, Amy Marshall, Camilla Watson, Blythe Scott and Jen Collee will be specially profiled. Check the gallery’s website for the current artist list and latest news.
Comprising large format paintings to smaller works, themes include horses, eyes, trees, human figures, classical traditional landscapes and abstract works which appeal directly to the spectator’s imagination and interpretation. In addition, art-followers with an eye for cutting edge jewellery designs will delight in the contemporary pieces on display.
APRIL 9-20
Tommy Fitchet - ‘Tranquility’
Blythe Scott, Walking from Waverley, mixed media
One of the most original artists working today, Tommy’s original paintings on glass and jewel-like colours hold an endless fascination for the viewer, and his continuing popularity confirms the enduring appeal of these vibrant paintings.
